Flamenco, from its birth, has become a symbolic representation through two colours, black and red. The black is to synthesize the drama of some of the "palos" or styles, especially the founding: the toná, the martinete or siguiriya. Red combines the passion, the rhythm of the blood, in the soleá, tangos or bulerías. This is reflected in painting or literature, in which red and black are always scattered in oils and acrylics, in novels and poems, perpetual emblems of the more chillingly beautiful music in the world. But the truth is that in the complexity of Flamenco there are other colours, a full range of colours that exist in a mixture that, thank God, still renews itself and surprises and encourages us in every truthful recording. And now, to ratify what I say, "Colores Distintos" (Different Colours) is born, the latest CD by Vicente Soto "Sordera".

In "Colores Distintos", Sordera's invisible chromatics appear and interlace, like a painter's palette; songs that appeal to white, green or purple through the throat of his creator, and, already in the air, become a kind of rainbow that dazzles us. Vicente Soto, who has proven his talent in many albums, takes us through his voice to an unknown place where we can find all shades of colour of his own past, which now becomes immediate future.

Bulerías of this recording become red in Cervantes' AUTORRETRATO, white in QUIÉN SOY, where he sings with his daughter Lely; green in a TRINIÁ extracted from la copla, gray and painful in EL AIRE, dedicated to Fernandito "Terremoto", recently deceased, and purple, bright, shining, in UN CARRO DE LUNARES, offered to the memory of his mother Lela. In "Colores Distintos” we can also glimpse the seriousness of the seguiriya, the blue of the sea in the tanguillos, or an ironic brown in QUE SE NOS VA LA PASCUA, soleá por bulerías with lyrics by Gongora.

Vicente, as Gypsy and literary as usual, refers to all colours which, although invisible, can be felt in a recording that not only increases his discography, but also proves that he's still one of the greats.
